What just happened? Presenting GTC’s highlights of 2022
Who remembers lockdowns? As recently as a year ago, much of the world was still enforcing ‘stay at home’ orders. Happily, for most of us, ‘normality’ is now back. But the legacy of those turbulent times is still with us. Remote working, omnichannel digital comms, video consultations – all of these previously fringe ‘behaviours’ have moved firmly into the mainstream.
This has been great news for the A2P messaging community. Many enterprises adopted mobile messaging for the first time during the pandemic – and then stuck with it. As a result, volumes and revenues are ramped up to unprecedented levels. Indeed, just in the last few weeks one analyst predicted the market will move past the $100 billion mark by 2028.
Here at GTC we like to think we are playing our part in this market transition. We’re unique: the only company that can offer genuinely impartial and expert advice to all messaging industry stakeholders, no matter where they fit in the business messaging value chain.
And we have had a busy and eventful year. So, with the holidays approaching, we thought we would reflect back on the events of 2022. Here are the highlights!
1. We joined the GSMA
We were delighted to announce that we became a member of the industry’s influential trade body this year! GSMA is a global organisation that helps the mobile ecosystem to discover, develop and deliver innovation. We attended its #WAS16 event in Cape Town, South Africa, and look forward to meeting more of you at WAS events next year.
2. We launched three new services
These included IoT consulting, Cost & Margin Assurance, and 360° Feedback.
3. We grew the team
GTC added four new recruits in 2022. We’re now a team of 16 – spanning LATAM, Europe and Asia in 12 different cities across 10 countries. The team members who joined this year are:
Luanna Sena – dedicated to Business Development and based in the UK.
Nassia Skoulikariti – leading IoT projects and based in the UK.
Jeta Mustafa – part of the Managed Services team and based in Albania.
Torsten Kähler – dedicated to Business Development and based in Spain.
Two previously part-time members – Erika Slunksnytė and Arturas Vaznys – joined the team full-time. They manage finance and legal matters respectively.
4. We launched our M&A offering
With the number of corporate transactions on the rise, it made perfect sense to start an M&A advisory service in 2021. And what a great start. We have worked on 17 signed M&A agreements, 12 M&A introductions and five letters of intent.
5. We shared six infographics
GTC is all about market knowledge and insight. But this means nothing without effective communication. Infographics present a great opportunity to share our content in an easy-to-read format with a large audience. Take a look at our most popular infographic to date.
6. We shared 17 blogs
We offer our broader industry perspective through blogs to keep you up-to-date with what’s keeping us busy within the messaging world. These posts provide expert insight on genuinely important topics – from smishing to flash calls to origin-based pricing. Click here to read our most popular blog so far.
7. We made new alliances
At GTC, we are grateful to work with the industry’s most dynamic and innovative companies. In 2022 we publicly announced two more. The first was Axiata, one of the leading telecommunications groups in Asia. Then, in November, we announced our collaboration with identity specialist Sekura Mobile. We look forward to growing together with our new customers in 2023.
8. We scaled up our social media audience
Welcome to the 932 followers who joined us on LinkedIn in 2022. That’s a total of 2774 and a 54 percent increase on last year, now reaching 42 countries around the world!
9. We supported a non-profit
We supported a charitable initiative again in 2022 and chose to support the academic development of children through The Diantana Association: a non-profit organisation based in Antananarivo, Madagascar. It helps schools in rural areas by providing supplies to students in need. This year essential school materials, toys and food were handed out using GTC’s contribution.
10. We attended 11 global conferences
With events back in full force since the pandemic, GTC took advantage of meeting with friends and business partners at 11 live expos. Our highlights were MWC, ITW, WAS#16, and Capacity Europe.
What a year. Looking back, you might wonder how we managed to do so much in just 12 months. We certainly do. But our success merely reflects the buoyant growth of the mobile comms business – and the excellent progress of our clients and partners.
At GTC, we only flourish when our customers are innovating and growing. So we look forward to many more exciting developments in the months ahead.
